Glossary:

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF):

EGF is a growth factor that stimulates cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation by binding to its receptor EGFR. Discovered by Dr. Stanley Cohen in which he was awarded a Nobel Prize, EGF is used to treat burns in the skin as it helps to speed up the recovery process of the injury. When used in skin care, it helps to reduce wrinkles and control their formation by generating new skin cells.

Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF):

KGF is one of the important growth factors for functions to cure the injury with its involvement in the adhesion, reproduction and spread between cells, while affecting the reproduction and differentiation of various cells as one of the bio-proteins to stimulate the growth of keratin cells, which play an important role of reproducing the skin.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF):

VEGF is a signal protein produced by cells that stimulates vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. It is part of the system that restores oxygen supply to tissues when blood circulation is inadequate. Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1):

IGF-1 is a primary mediator of the effects of growth hormone. Growth hormone is made in the anterior pituitary gland, is released in the blood stream, and then stimulates the liver to produce IGF-1. IGF-1 then stimulates systemic body growth, and has growth-promoting effects on almost every cell in the body, especially skeletal muscle, cartilage, bone, liver, kidney, nerves, skin, hematopoietic cell and lungs. In addition to the insulin-like effects, IGF-1 can also regulate cell growth and development, especially nerve cells, as well as cellular DNA synthesis.
